Comparison of scar outcomes of alar base and columella using irradiated polyglactin 911: a single-blind study

Aim: The formation of scars on the face after open septorhinoplasty (SRP) with alar base reduction may disturb patient due to cosmetic concerns. This study aimed compare scar outcomes columella and in patients undergoing SRP.
 Material Method: Twenty-seven who underwent during primary SRP were divided into two groups according intervened area as Columella (CLM) group (n=27) Alar Base (AB) (n=27). Irradiated polyglactin 911 was used all patients. modified Stony Brook Scar Evaluation Scale (SBSES) a questionnaire form measure satisfaction. Columellar compared.
 Results: Patient satisfaction better CLM group. There no significant difference, except for first month total SBSES scores, between AB groups. difference scores In early period, there more signs inflammation than columella, without statistical significance.
